I live with my partner and three children in Glasgow. I teach yoga classes in Glasgow, including healing and therapeutic restorative yoga and meditation and Yoga for the Chakras workshops based on my recently published book. I also offer one to one sessions for holistic Mental and Physical Health, where I draw upon my experince and background in yoga, breathwork, meditation and Reiki, my training in Yoga Therapy, my Clinical Psychology training and many years of experience in mental health, to provide 'whole person' therapy, tailored for each individual to improve health, well-being and happiness.
After gaining my BSc in Psychology from Stirling University, I worked for the mental health charity MIND for several years in London, before beginning my training in Clinical Psychology at UEL. After gaining my MSc in Clinical Psychology in 1993, I worked for Camden and Islington NHS trust, specialising in Primary care mental health and in HIV/AIDS/Sexual health, for over 5 years.
During this time I began practising yoga and was amazed at the difference it made to both my physical well-being and peace of mind.
Returning to Scotland I worked as Group-work, Training and Development co-ordinator, in a stress centre in Glasgow and during my 8 years there, I developed a range of courses and workshops covering all aspects of stress and psychological well-being, including coping with anxiety, managing anger, dealing with insomnia, positive thinking for health and happiness and introduction to meditation and mindfulness. I also ran ongoing courses in relaxation, stress-management and meditation and have worked in schools, with the elderly, and with staff groups.
I completed my 500 hour yoga teacher training with Yoga Scotland, in 2005. Following my training I became a columnist with the Sunday Herald magazine, writing the popular columns 'The Simple Guide to Fitness' and 'Balance, Mind, Body and Spirit', I also gained my Reiki 2, qualification with Liz Napier, and co-authored the book, Awakening the Chakras through Yoga. I have continued to study yoga and have trained with many excellent teachers including Judith Hanson Lasater to teach restorative yoga, and Swami Saradananda, to teach meditation.. I recently completed my training in Yoga Therapy with the Scottish School of Yoga Therapy..and completed the 50 hour training in Yin Yoga
My studies, combined with yoga, breathwork, Reiki and my background in Clinical Psychology have allowed me to develop a truly holistic approach to improving health and well-being..
